Dementia Website Launched in Bangalore,India

Hi Friends it pleasure to inform you that ARDSI,Bangalore Chapter and Nightingales Medical Trust have launched new website for Dementia : www.dementiabangalore.com .

It is their commitment towards the cause of Elderly. This is an excellent website full of information for Dementia.

About the Promoters:
Alzheimer’s & Related Disorders Society of India, Bangalore Chapter is a non-profit organization registered in 2006, the Centenary year of Alzheimer’s. This Chapter is affiliated to Alzheimer’s & Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) which has 14 chapters across the Country.

Unlike other diseases, dementia affects not only the patients but devastates the families as well. The cause of the disease remains unknown, and there is no prevention or cure. Age is the major risk factor for Alzheimer’s. It is unfortunate that Bangalore, the Pensioners Paradise of India, where over 30000 elders are estimated to be affected by dementia, still does not have an exclusive care facility for dementia. Awareness too is lacking.

Responding to this emerging epidemic among elders, Nightingales Medical Trust , an NGO implementing various need-based projects for the well-being of the elderly in and around Bangalore and the Bangalore Chapter of ARDSI launched the Dementia website.

Vision

Making Bangalore one of the leading cities in India in Dementia Care by 2010 through:

• Raising awareness
• Providing easy access screening facilities
• Promoting care services
• Setting up local support groups
• Training of formal and informal caregivers
• Networking with Government, NGOs and Medical Institutions
• Promoting Research
• Advocating for the cause of Dementia
