Financial help required for a liver transplant for Elderly Mother

This is to bring to your kind attention, the medical condition of my mother, Mrs. Merle James (55 years) who has been in and out of the ICU of Dr. L. H. Hiranandani Hospital, Powai.

She is facing acute Liver failure due to an underlying history of an Auto immune disorder. The past 6 months have been traumatic for us with frequent admissions of her to the hospital due to severe bleeding and requirements for blood transfusion. The condition has also rendered her immobile because of swelling of the lower portion of the body.

The doctor in charge, Dr. Viral Patrawala, has suggested a liver transplant surgery as the only hope for saving her life. My mother, who is retired from her employment, is a single parent and the family comprising of only the two of us are dependent solely on my salary for a living.

The treatment involved so far, with the very frequent admissions to the hospital, has completely depleted our financial resources and the medical expenses now are met with large borrowings from all possible sources.

The only chance my mother has for survival, depends only on a Liver transplant. We have approached all the leading hospitals for the procedure and Apollo Hospital, Chennai appears most suited due to the quick availability of the organ from Cadavers. Uncertain waiting period at the other hospitals for the organ could go against us as she does not have time on her hand. The approximate estimate for the transplant is Rs.25 Lakhs.

Under the present circumstances I am left with no other alternative but to fervently appeal for financial help.
