Salaam Bombay Foundation to start cricketing event

Salaam Bombay Foundation today announced the beginning of Mumbai’s largest cricket tournament for children- The Little Masters Challenge, 2007. This is an annual event organized under Salaam Bombay Cricket Academy for the underprivileged children to given them an experience of a world class cricket.

120 children from 40 municipal schools will play quarter finals and semi finals in the first week of December at Indian Gymkhana and Dahisar Sports Foundation. These teams have been coached under the guidance of former cricketer Mr. Ashok Vinoo Mankad, Mr. S. P. Bhatia, Ms. Surekha Bhandare and Mr. Rajan Kargutkar.

The event will observe four teams from 21 schools (2 under-13 teams and 2 under-17 teams) playing 20 over matches. The 'Little Master’s Challenge’ finals will be held on 11th December, 2007 at Brabourne stadium between 9 am -2.30 pm in Mumbai.

More than 5,000 children from 40 municipal schools will be attending the final match at the stadium.

The Salaam Bombay Foundation organizes the annual cricket tournament for under privileged children since 2005 and it is the largest children’s cricket event in Mumbai.
